Chairman's and Principles Message
Chairman's Message
On behalf of the Board of directors Welcome To The Karen Hospital Medical Training College.
Management of TKHMTC has proved a fulfilling task and one I do not take lightly. I must say that I am proud of our students, faculty, and staff. We have shown the world that despite the challenges that we may have faced along the way, it is possible to pioneer and build a college from scratch by working together, listening to, and learning from one another, and focusing on the objectives that bind us together. Even when faced with one of the most challenging of situations that is the Covid-19 elephant, we worked together to ensure the continuity of programmes. I’m proud to note that TKHMTC adapted to the new norm and introduced e-learning fully backed with reliable internet connectivity and high-quality library resources comprising an e-library with over 10,000 books, journals, newsletters, and periodicals. Students and lecturers were able to get instant access to information through the clinical key, nursing consult up-to-date, and z-library.
As we look towards the future, management aims to increase the number of specialty programs (Nursing and other medical programs) from the current 4 to 8 in the next 3 years: For nursing, we are looking forward to having a postgraduate diploma in cardiac nursing and a Higher diploma in critical care nursing. We are also aiming at incorporating other medical programs such as Higher Diploma in anesthesia, Higher Diploma in speech and language therapy, a higher diploma in mental Health Nursing, and palliative and oncology care. As is outlined in the Karen Hospital Medica Training College 2021-2024 strategic plan we are also aiming at the digitalization of 30% of non-medical courses, enhancing academic excellence in all the training programs, increasing the student population capacity from the current 160 to 200+ and evolving into a stand-alone self-sustaining institution.
